Sheri Denham graduated from the University of Maryland, School of Nursing with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree in 2004. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing Degree from Simmons College in Boston, MA in 2016. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She has completed extensive specialty training and holds certificates in Bioidentical Hormone Therapy, Anti-Aging Therapy, Medical Weight Loss, botox/fillers, and Opioid Addiction Treatment.
Sheri has a wide range of experience including intensive care, wound care, family medicine, and internal medicine. Sheri spent 12 years working for MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC in multiple intensive care settings. Her specialty ICU experience includes: Burn, Trauma, Surgical, Medical, Coronary Care, Cardiac Surgery, and Neurosurgery. She served as a team leader for the Rapid Response, Sepsis, and Code Blue Teams. As a nurse practitioner, Sheri has worked in Family Medicine, served as the Medical Director of Awakenings Recovery Center, and is the owner of Black Rock Integrative Medicine.
Sheri has completed extensive research on opioid addiction and other substance use disorders. She co-authored a research paper entitled, Iatrogenic Opioid Addiction, and presented this research at the Western Maryland Heroin Task Force Summit. The information presented at this summit contributed to the many law changes that were implemented in 2017, holding healthcare providers responsible and accountable for their prescriptive practices. Sheri has been an expert speaker about opioid addiction treatment at a Canada conference. Sheri has also served as a consultant in Canada to educate Canadian providers on the use and benefits of long-term buprenorphine injections.
Sheri currently focuses most of her practice on the treatment of substance use disorders. She is the founder of Black Rock Integrative Medicine in which she provides outpatient medication assisted treatment to those affected by various substance use disorders. Sheri is a trusted member of the substance use treatment community and provides MAT services to multiple organizations within the community
including Brooke’s House, Lasting Change, The Day Reporting Center, Adult Drug Court, The Well’s House, The Orenda Center, and many sober living facilities.
Sheri is a passionate nurse practitioner who loves a challenge, believes in treating people as individuals, and gets excited about offering life changing, precision health care.
